The castle was built in 1891 by Sir William Overnewton, who was an English aristocrat. The castle has been renovated and restored to its original glory. It is now a popular wedding venue in Melbourne with many couples choosing it as their wedding venue.
As a Melbourne wedding photographer, what I love about capturing wedding photography at the Overnewton Castle is the amount of wedding photography opportunities available within. Outside you will find manicured lawns and trees which are perfect for some candid walking shots with the couple, while the historical castle sits in the back. Inside the castle, the corridor and the spiral staircase are probably the must do locations for some dramatic indoor wedding photography.
OUR STORY WITH THE COUPLE:
We met with the lovely couple earlier this year and it was great knowing the couple fell in love with our style of wedding photography at the very beginning. With many years of experience from capturing weddings in the Melbourne city and surrounding, without too much words, we quickly managed to stand on the same page of the style we after.
The wedding ceremony: embracing their Indian cultural traditions, the couple held their wedding ceremony at the temple. During the wedding ceremony, our Melbourne wedding photographer captured lots of religious aspect as well as genuine moments of the couple.
The wedding reception: before the couple’s wedding celebration at the heritage wedding venue Overnewton Castle, the couple quickly changed into the tuxedo and wedding gown from their traditional Indian costumes. During the night, our Melbourne wedding photographer captured lots of fun moments of the guests partying on the dancefloor, as well as the couple’s cake cutting and speeches.
