Great hotel nice experience and love the stay. Restaurant staff aren’t really friendly or polite but all other reception staff are really friendly and helpful.Food is also good.Overall experience is great.
Dear RACV Torquay Management,We have been loyal guests at RACV Torquay since 2017, as our first two visits were absolutely stunning. We were impressed with the excellent service and the quality of the rooms. However, during our visit in 2022, we noticed a decline in standards. While it was disappointing, we were understanding, given the challenges the hospitality industry faced following the pandemic.Unfortunately, our current stay has left us deeply dissatisfied. The experience has further declined, and we feel that the quality of service and amenities has significantly deteriorated. We had booked 5-night stay with a superior king-sized bed in Dec 2024 for the price range of $431-$481, only to find out upon arrival that this option is no longer available. This was not communicated to us at any point, which caused unnecessary confusion. Additionally, we found that basic amenities such as toothpaste are no longer standard and must be requested. This is not in line with what we’ve come to expect from a hotel of your caliber (so called a 5-star hotel), as such items are typically standard in most hotels we’ve visited.Another notable change is the absence of woolen blankets, which were previously provided in the room. These blankets added a touch of comfort and warmth during our stay, especially since the duvet provided is far too heavy for summer stays. Their absence this time is disappointing, as they were particularly appreciated when lighter bedding was needed. We wanted to cut our stay short as we are very disappointed. However, the receptionist informed us that the policy had changed in November, and reservations are no longer adjustable. Even if we leave early, we are still required to pay for the remaining days. This makes us feel forced to stay and try to make the best of an otherwise disappointing experience. In 2017 and 2018, we stayed in a room on Level 5 that featured a superior king bed, a larger desk with a comfortable chair, two lovely couches, and a clock music player on one of the bedside tables which greatly enhanced our comfort. In contrast, the current room (level 5) has a small round desk with two uncomfortable chairs, one couch (see the photos attached), and the clock music player is no longer provided which feels like a downgrade rather than the premium experience that we paid for and as we were expecting. We hope that you take this feedback constructively and work towards restoring the exceptional standards that originally made RACV Torquay stand out.Attached the photos from our stays in 2017 vs 2024.Based on our recent experiences, we feel that we can no longer recommend this resort to others until the standards are improved and restored to the level that initially impressed us.
Amazing! This is a wonderful resort. Beautiful staff, amazing food and wonderful views and beautiful rooms. I have stayed here a few times this year and every time I come back I am always impressed! The staff are so friendly and will always make time for me. The meals are very generous and fabulous quality. I won’t stay any where else. As a single traveler, it’s important to me that I feel welcomed and the reception staff are always happy to see me return, it’s such a lovely feeling.
We loved our mid week getaway at the RACV Torquay resort. From check in to checkout, everything was great. The rooms were spacious clean and modern, breakfast has many options and lots of gluten free food. What I was really impressed with was the fitness centre and the availability of group fitness classes to hotel guests including Pilates, yoga and cardio classes as well as use of the gym and pool: the games room was also cool even for adults. Loved our stay and would stay again next time we’re heading to Torquay.
Even before our stay, we had alerted the staff about the lack of cleanliness during our first visit and the staff has reassured us that they would ensure that the room is thoroughly cleaned and that they pride themselves in 5 star standards. The 5 star standards are only related to what it would cost you rather than the service you will receive. So, it is a total rip off! Won't be visiting, again.Room was dusty, furniture, table lamps and the shelf on which wine glasses and cups were kept. I am sure, those little kitchenette shelves are still dusty. The dust is visible because the shelves are made of glass. Towels had a weird odour and we kept asking for fresh towels and every time they brought towels with a bad odour. Bedsheets were also dusty. Pillows were very uncomfortable to sleep on and so we didn't sleep well. The shower drain had some grout near the walls. I had to wipe the counter near the sink in the bathroom before use as it was dirty. The housekeeping staff washed the dirty mugs in the bathroom sink and gave them a wipe and did not replace them or wash them in a dishwashing sink. The menu was restricted to such an extent that it made the Chefs seem very lazy/anxious/inefficient. All the dishes were unreasonably over-priced. I ordered grilled fish for lunch and the fish was fried without the skin and so it was dry and flavourless. For dessert, you could only choose between a chocolate tart or a lemon brûlée. For dinner, I had the chicken which was also dry with a very scanty drizzle of sauce at the bottom of the plate. For the complimentary breakfast, you pay extra for beverages like hot chocolate/coffee. Bacon was barely cooked. Most of the fruit seemed raw and so were not sweet. Again the Chef will only cook one special dish to order. On the first day, the only special dish was waffles and the second day, you could only order pancakes. You have to order certain items like scones before 4 pm. Don't recommend!
To say that we are grateful to have chosen the RACV Torquay Resort as our wedding venue would be a massive understatement. We knew we had found a gem on very first inspection of the beautiful architecture, views, and location; but we quickly realised it was perfect for much more than that. The whole process throughout the 18 months of planning, especially with Sarah as our coordinator, was completely seamless. She accommodated some of our tricky demands (especially moving around heavy wedding decor), she communicated so efficiently through our many many emails, she absolutely nailed every tiny detail to a tee, and most importantly, she made our dream come to life.To the rest of the team, especially all of those involved in setting up and running our reception; I cannot tell you how many compliments we received on the amazing service and delicious food. I have had so many of the guests say to me “wow, they were just fantastic weren’t they”. Thank-you for taking care of us so well and making us feel like absolute royalty. We couldn’t be happier, the reception was just perfect.Last but not least, our stay was amazing!! We had room service from the restaurant every single night which was some of the most amazing food we’ve ever had, we basically floated back to the room on a cloud of bliss after our spa treatments at OneSpa, and we soaked up the amazing balcony views every morning. It was heaven on Earth, and we were treated so well. We will be back for our one year anniversary!
Great place for a warm cosy dinner. Food was delicious and ambience was great. Outdoor High-speed charging for EVs is a heaven sent for the long journey to Great Ocean Road.
Restaurant number one was a massive let down.We had a 6pm booking for 2 families with kids.Kids meals came out quickly, however mains for adults we had to ask numerous times when the meals would be coming out and by 730 we still didn’t have our meals. We ended up going back to our room to put our daughter to sleep and had our meals sent up as room service.Over an hour for mains to be served after placing our orders. Very disappointed, as we paid a large amount of money for our meals and accommodation, as it is supposed to be fine dining! Do not feel that it was a fine dining experience and overall give it a 1/5 stars. Please see a photo of eating our meals in our hotel room at the desk at 8pm.
It is such a nice hotel with many kind helpful staff, wonderful swimming pool with comfortable Spa and gourmet dish that we stayed a week ago. Megan who works at Front Desk, helped us a lot to contact our car rental company for resolving our issue, is highly appreciated. The considerate manager in restaurant selected tasty wine for us. What an amazing dinner!
Wonderful resort, big rooms but a little bit cold in winter. Breakfast was really good and with great choice, but they charged me for one cappuccino after the waiter asked me if I wanted something hot for brekfast without telling me I should have paid for it. I thought it was included. Anyway, averall good experience.
What a wonderful Resort! From the moment we arrived at reception we were greeted by the friendly staff who were more than happy to explain all about their resort. Our Premium Ocean View room was more than we expected. So large and spacious with wonderful decor, views and very clean. We enjoyed the cafes, bars and buffet breakfast which was included in our special package rate.I enjoyed going to the One Spa, Day Spa for some relaxation, while hubby enjoyed relaxing in our room.We got a great deal for staying 2 nights.Highly recommend a stay and will be definitely returning in the future. Thanks RACV Resort Torquay staff!
Rooms are okay, but for the premium we pay to stay in the hotel, we have got a communal pool, full with babies and kids on the weekend. Nappies were changed on the chairs and kids under 3 were dipping in the spa. You dont have to stay in the hotel to use the pool! What a joke!So , please advise on your website that the pool is communal!
