Lyrebird Falls as a Dandenong wedding venue
Everyone has dreamed about getting married in the bush with nothing but them and their fiancé. Lyrebird Falls is in the Dandenong Ranges and is a boutique wedding venue just 35 kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD. The venue contains towering trees, lush ferns and free-flowing streams so you can combine a bush wedding with one by the water.
As a Dandenong wedding photographer who has been to this wedding venues for quite a few times now, what I love about weddings at the Lyrebird Falls is all of the wedding co-ordinators at Lyrebird Falls work closely with their clients to ensure the day is perfect.
The wedding will take place in a freshly renovated dining area and there are multiple options for the ceremony from an intimate stained glass chapel right through to a garden gazebo. With mirrored walls and natural light, the experience of the Dandenongs is enhanced. The gazebo can be decorated with floral arrangements with the bluestone pavers providing the perfect aisle. The dining room was recently renovated and was voted as Victoria’s Best Reception Centre in 2006, 2010 and 2011 at the Victorian Bridal Awards. With plenty of natural light it has a cheerful atmosphere.
The deck provides a space for pre-dinner drinks, with many of their guests finding it the ideal space for photographs. The Dandenong Ranges has the best wedding and reception photography options.
Our story with the couple
The wedding getting ready: Our Dandenong wedding photographer started with a photo of the groom’s outfits which included brown dress shoes, a black suit jacket and a black bow tie. Jimmy was photographed playing with his son before the wedding which showed his relaxed personality. His duck socks showed his chilled out personality as well. We then photographed him and his boys with a guitar drinking beer before the wedding.
The bride, Jodie chose a simple long sleeved gown and admired it as it hung outside amongst the greenery. Her mother helped adjust her necklace and we captured her bridesmaids fussing over her as she gazed out the window. We supplied these photos in colour as well as black and white. She stuck to tradition with a light blue floral garter while her bridesmaids wore the same coloured gowns with different necklines to reflect their individual taste. We also snapped her and her four bridesmaids playing in the garden with the fence as a backdrop.
The wedding ceremony: The ceremony was set indoors with the signing table positioned by the stained glass windows.
The wedding photo location: Jodie and her friends posed for a selfie for our Dandenong wedding photographer and celebrated with champagne as they got ready for the ceremony. Jodie and Jimmy had a Cinderella style wedding with “Happily ever after” acting as a backdrop for their formal seated photo. We caught photographs of the whole wedding party and then a few intimate shots of just the bride and groom by themselves and with the bridal party by the ferns on the walkway.
The wedding reception at Lyrebird Falls: The reception was held indoors with tables forming a border around the interior so there was a dance floor in the middle. The bridal party had their own table by the windows.
